Complete motor vs part it out , which is better?
I am almost done with my 2.7 to 3.0 conversion project. I now have a 2.7 sitting on my garage floor on a pallet. It was in good condition when I removed it , I just wanted a 3.0L for many reasons.
I am trying to decide what to do with the 2.7, I noticed that a plan 2.7 sells for around 1800.00 to 2400.00 with no mods or no clutch or exhaust, is this about right. The motor has about 124000 miles on it , leaks like a porsche, non smoker, I dont know if the PO every rebuilt it. I added a pop off valve. I am also leaving the new (600 miles) clutch and flywheel on it as well as the exhaust and cdi box. I also have a new set of arp ss head studs in the box that have not been installed My questions are, 1. What is a fair price for the motor decribed above? 2. Will I get a better price by parting the motor out ? Thanks Rick ![]() |

You may get a bit more for it in parts, but you need to weigh that against the time and effort of dismantling, shipping and storing parts, and dealing with many different sales to different people against one sale to one person.
