Removing Ignition Switch

I removed the break-off bolts and rivits and disconnected the electrical portion. I removed the nut on the bottom of the steering column connection and loosened the screw with a small allen wrench. I still can;'t get the swicth out. Does the steering column bolt need to be completely removed? If so, is there a trick?

I got it. I was pushing the screw in instead of out. Here's what I found.

I did a search and found an old post where someone used JB Weld to reconnect the broken piece. He said he filed, welded and re-filed to fit.
Does anyone really think it's possible?
