Airbag control unit

Hi guys
I bought a new old airbag control unit, it was full of old messages and accident codes.

I've been contemplating sending it to a company claiming they can reset the unit.

Will that turn the airbag error light off that comes in on the car or do it have to be programed to the car in some way, which I've heard it has to.

Not the atcual unit in the Pic

When I replaced the one in my 993 I was told that the only available units new were from a 996 and that part would need to be reprogrammed for 964/99 use w/ a PIWIS or newer tool.

Tnx for response.
So you're saying getting these 964 ABS control units reprogrammed and working again is not an option?

I checked the Durametric website, the Durametric cable seems to do Airbag Coding only for 2005-2012 997s. No coding for any 911s prior or after that time period.

Too bad, that would have been a great solution.
