I’d say either the alternator is not fully seated and bolted/tightened into the housing or you have a cracked housing which is allowing the alternator to sag.

See this link for new housing options: https://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/1158384-replacement-fan-housings.html

had same problem on my 1986. I had previously replaced the fan housing with an aluminum one after discovering cracks in the old magnesium housing. A year or so later, my original fan began hitting the side of the new housing. When I removed the fan, discovered it too was cracked where it mounts to the alternator. Unfortunately, the magnesium parts on these cars do wear out eventually. If you haven't done so already, replace the housing and fan with new aluminum ones.

I think that common causes are that the fan mounting strap is overtightened, or the fan belt is too tight.

Old fan housings eventually become brittle, weaken and crack from stress. Tension from the belt torques them out of round. Then the fan makes contact with the house. Best to replace the house sooner than later. Reason: As contact progresses, frictional heat will toast the ends of the fan blades so that they will loose material. Fan is then out of balance. Then there's a new fan to buy in addition to the housing. This blade toasting is not easy to see because it is typically on the rear edges. With a new fan housing, suggestion: Check fit of the alternator to the fan house. If it's tight, it's possible to use the nuts to pull the alt into the house but then it's a difficult task to replace the alt when needed. Best to have the fan housing lathed out so the alt is a snug but slip in fit. Anti seize between the alt and fan house, and between the alt shaft and fan (very little as it will migrate out if too much) is a smart touch. When necessary, these parts will then come apart very easily.
