1972 911T a/c value add

So need opinions as I am trying to decide if I should redo the factory a/c in my 72 911. Would cost me about $4k and take a week to install. The current system is non functional and completely original. What would modern a/c add to the value of my car? The car is in great condition with 81k original miles and absolutely no rust anywhere. I am soon to put it up for sale probably on Bring a Trailer so it is only for resale that I would do this.

Personally I’d want a functioning AC system if I was buying an early 911 and wouldn’t think twice about paying for it. That said, many people will still want to purchase a nice early 911 without AC.

The very best upgrade I did to my 85 was a full Griffiths AC Mr Ice package. I get COLD air when needed. I can comfortably drive it in any sort of hot weather, and my wife will ride along. It simply works.

I dunno, all things equal I'd probably just list it on BAT and see what it does. I don't think that a BAT buyer is going to purchase a '72 as a daily driver, so AC is more of a "nice to have" feature for that crowd, if they even care at all.

Good luck.

It weighs few pounds for sure, but unless you are a scientist with sensitive equipment you will never notice. They were never fast compared to almost all modern cars.

You likely will never notice a difference is any way, except NOT sweating, and getting your wife or girlfriend to want to ride in it with you.
