🤔
Why? Because they're there. Bumperette is a misnomer (at least on the US cars). At 7.28 pounds per, there's nothing "ette" about them...

IMO they can look "balanced" on a 911 with a tail, especially a Tea Tray.
I'm leaving the bumperettes on my (mostly) stock early '87. Although, from this angle, try not to think "full diaper..."

I am a bumperette delete guy on my Sports Purpose builds. I like the visual weight reduction and love the actual weight reduction.

Link to that calculation? I'd love to play with that.
Deleting the bumperettes and switching to Euro crush tubes (from US bumper shocks) saved me 17.66 pounds.
As an aside, the stock M491 tail & base weigh 25.66 pounds (14.76 lb base + 10.90 lb rubber lip), not including mounting hardware. How much torque for THAT to change direction?

No, they are not cheap, however, given what I spend on wheels and mufflers, I'm not making any value judgements. They look pretty good on there. I do applaud anyone developing new products for 35 to 50 year old cars that I happen to love tho. That being said, I'm not wild about the Car Bone logo being integrated.

Yup , you can remove them to save on weight but a new Subaru wagon with 3 kids and a golden retriever will still blow your air cooled 911 away!! I leave mine on my Carrera.

#HPtoWeightMatters My late '87 is 2,678 lbs and 260hp. Such a different (i.e. Sports Purpose) driving experience.

Interesting idea, but the numbers would suggest otherwise. The lightest 2025 outback with the highest output engine (260 HP) is 14 lb/HP. An 87 Carrera would be 13.2 lb/HP. Load up the subbie and I think you're going to be at a disadvantage, unless road conditions call for full-time AWD. Watching the dog trying to find traction while whipping through the chicanes will be fun....

...Until the dog pukes. BTDT with our 100 pound Rhodesian Ridgeback, in the back of our T5-R wagon, on the way to Estes Park from Lyons. Cannot recommend.
