The dreaded plugs.. tricks & tips?
Hi,
Working my way through a backdate of a 911 SC and effectively building the car from scratch. Currently installing the various harnesses and everything was going well until I realized I hadn't put the harness plugs into the fender for the electric windows in the doors. I've already spent hours putting the fenders back on so really don't want to take them off again. Now the main issue is that I am struggling to push the female plug through the holes. This isn't the only place this is a problem. Besides brute force, is there a trick to pushing these through more easily? Also, as I have no reference to go by, is it the top hole or the lower hole that takes the window power connector? Thanks! FWIW here is my current situation: ![]() |

Dish soap helped when I replaced the rear lights, which come with new wire harnesses. Still a total ***** but I found it impossible without some lube.

And I use a hot air gun to soften the rubber a bit.

Thanks both. Tried the dish soap approach on a couple of the instrument holes and that worked a bit. Will give the hot air a try next!

Heat them up, little wipe of dish soap, no problem
