79SC with SSI’s, sport muffler
I have this SSI setup and Dansk muffler on my 79SC, looking for a muffler that is a little more sporty. Interested to see what others with SSI’s are running on their cars. Thanks

I paired my 2.7l with SSIs and and M&K Street muffler. Fine around town and screamed wide open. Perceptible improvement according to the butt-dyno. I was very happy with the setup until I swapped motors.

I have the M&K 27ST (I think) anyway its their street version of the sport muffler. Zero drone and sporty sound but not over the top loud. Just right for me.

I've had half a dozen mufflers bolted to SSIs on my SC in the past ten years.
2in1out stock 1973 muffler - OMG why bother owning a sports car. took it off within hours. 2in1out Dansk sport - sound is milktoast and robs a ton of power. 2in1out M&K "quiet" had good build quality and better tone than the Dansk but not rowdy enough for me. 2in1out M&K (MM27?) had good sound, good build quality and no drone. 2in1out Bursch glasspack made more HP, was rowdier than the M&K, but was steel and constantly rusting. Fun and cheap if you can find one (NLA) 2in2out GT3 style Achtungkraft GTK - this is my goldilocks muffler. Amazing sound (modern GT3 wail) when I want to hammer down, with baffles and electric valves to quiet and eliminate drone when cruising.

I've got a M&K MKM27 (2 in 1 out) for sale if you're interested.

I have SSI's and the Dansk "Sport" muffler on my '88. A very noticeable performance improvement over the stock system. Cabin is still quiet and the exhaust note is pleasing...not too loud. Neighbors still smile when I drive by.

I've got the 2in/2out Dansk sport muffler. It's pretty loud when you are on it and at idle, but quiet at highway cruising speeds. I'd rather have the 1 out, maybe I'm getting old..

I prefer the 1-out, and I consider myself "vintage."
