Turbo Look rear axle
Lifted my 85 today and found the boot torn on the outboard CV. Would the axles be the same as the NA Carrera, unique or Turbo?
Need to order replacement parts Thanking you in advance. |

Is the car M491 optioned or a conversion?
Conversion would be standard 911 axles. M491 for 1985 had the 915 trans making the axle a hybrid with 915 inner flange and 930 outer flange.

PET shows transmission "joint flange" as:
930.332.209.03 for 930/34/35 & 915/69/70 915.332.209.12 for 915/67/68 930.332.209.05 for 930/36/37 & 915/72/73. 930/34-36 are 78-88 3.3 turbo transmissions; pretty sure they only ever used 108mm flanges with 6xM10 bolts. PET also lists the same axles (and wheel stub axles) for 930/M491 of equivalent years. Which makes sense if they've got the same transmission flanges, because a "real" M491 will have 930 trailing arms etc. (For ~1970-up 911s with 108mm x M10 transmission flanges, G50 "attached stub" axles bolt straight up once you remove the wheel-side stub axle - but that's a different conversation). I know some later 915s came with the 108mm X M10 bolt drive flange & CVs (as per 930) - because I made the mistake of swapping the flanges to the earlier type when I built my replacement up, so as to re-use my original axles. Only to realize later that the bigger flanges/bolts/CVs would have been a much better choice than the comparatively wimpy 911 stuff once my 930/60 hulked up 150 ft/lbs or so... Pretty easy to tell; measure the CV joint. Either 108mm flange with 6xM10 bolts (930/G50) or 100mm flange with M8 bolts (915).
