Help removing G50 coupler from trans

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to access the collar bolt that holds the G50 coupler to the transmission. I can't get it from the inside, and the rubber boot doesn't want to slide towards the front to expose the bolt. Before I rip that boot I thought I'd check that I'm approaching this the right way! Its definitely cramped under there so its tough to get 2 hands on it.

I'm installing a short shifter wanted to replace the coupler bushing, but need to get it out first

Thanks in advance!

Try disconnecting the boot on the body and sliding it rearwards. Pull it into a gear that allows access.

The boot is retained via a flange on the body underneath. You can CAREFULLY pry it off the flange, but use a plastic tool; you don't want to tear it...

Thanks guys, that is exactly what I needed. I was worried about tearing it but got it off with a plastic tool this morning. Appreciate you!

Coupler and Shifter installed. Definitely made getting the shifter rod into the shifter easier with the extra space having the coupler out of the car.

JWest Coupler installed
