Headliner Padding - keep or replace?
Seeking advice —
Replacing my headliner and want to know the recommended course of action for the foam padding attached to the underside of the roof skin. The existing foam material is not sagging (yet). 1. Do I remove the existing foam padding or leave in place? 2. If replacing, what type of material is suggested? ![]()

The original foam padding is extremely durable. It doesn't fall apart after a dozen years like so much of the stuff available now. It's been in there for almost 50 years! I can also attest that getting off the original adhesive is a real PITA. Unless it's deteriorating, I would leave it alone.

When I had my Headliner redone, I had them use sound proofing material.
