The challenge stradale is not that light. Ferrari has been.. umm... let's say optimistic with their weight numbers (those dirty lying ....). I expect it to weigh at least 100 kg more than the number you put, probably more. I just checked Ferrari's web site, even they say that the curb weight is 2822 (1282 kg), and I think that is optimistic still. (they say weight is 2602 which corresponds to your number, but we need to compare curb weight to curb weight).

Those great 19 inch rims on the Ferrari also hold thinner tires than the rs. The GT3 rs has 235 front and 295 rear. The Ferrari has 225 front and 285 rear.

Sure the engine has 425 hp, but the GT3 is quicker than it should be... 12.3 in the quarter mile. I've seen numerous videos of the 996 turbo laying waste to 360s in the quarter and the gt3 is faster than the turbo. So the 360 has a longer way to come with it's special model than the RS does (rs starts with a faster base car). Also, I believe that the RS has some more tricks up it's sleeve. Porsche says it makes the same hp as the gt3, but at 7300 rpm, not 7400. I think this is silly. I mean if they go in there to monkey with the motor, they aren't just going to bump the power peak 100 rpm lower, I bet it makes more. Especially since many of the regular GT3s make more than 381 hp.

Also is the question of how it drives. Walter Rohrl claims that in the 360, you spend all your time keeping it from spinning at the limit and that it relies too much on skid control instead of chassis tuning. Meanwhile we have the GT3 which handles much better than the 360, getting a totally revised suspension for the RS model.

I don't think the stradale has a chance (bashing done)

Thanks for revitalising my Porsche faith

But GT3s accelerating faster than Turbos? Are you really sure? Sounds amazing. Remember the difference in torque.

I think it's marginally faster than a stock turbo through the quarter from the numbers I have seen (12.3 vs 12.4), but it might be a tick slower to 100. So it depends on the test. I think tests that favor high speed would go to the GT3 because it's more aerodynamic. But even if a regular GT3 was exactly as fast as a turbo, it would still be a lot faster than a 360. Porsche claims 4.5 seconds to 62 for the GT3, Car and Driver said they got 4 seconds flat to sixty in a preliminary test. Once the magazines get full tests in, we'll get more official results. I hope they correspond to the initial tests.

Not to change the subject too much but after drooling over the carrer gt in this month's excellence I am curious what that v10 would put out after having a couple of turbos applied to it ?

As for the gt3 being compared to the 996tt remember that the normally aspirated cars are coming closer, in top end speed, to the turbos compared to past 911 vs past turbos.
