Calling all Pelicans - ICARP needs our help.
Dear Pelicans,
Ians temporary mailing address; Ian Carpenter 2211 Lomas Blvd NE, 5 South Albuquerque, NM 87106 In late January, our dear friend Ian Carpenter's life changed in an instant when he suffered a stroke. Since then, he has been on the road to recovery, at the University of New Mexico hospital. Ian is more than just a beloved member of the Porsche community — he’s the kind of person who shows up for others, offering his time, knowledge, and kindness without hesitation. Now, he needs YOUR help. As Ian prepares to leave the hospital, his journey is far from over. He faces months of physical and speech therapy, and being unable to work has added a heavy financial burden. Every donation, no matter how small, will help Ian on his road to recovery. Now it is our time to rally around Ian and show our support to someone who has given so much to those around him. Your kindness can make a world of difference. Thank you! Shane Bush P.S. I’m going to share this link with Ian, he is able to look at his phone with the help of his nurse. I’m going to ask them to read comments from this thread to him. So regardless if you donate or not any encouragement or get well messages means a lot to Ian, he truly values his friends in this forum. https://gofund.me/6762f43e http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1742423635.jpg |

Yikes. Scary. Thanks for the update, Shane. I realized the last time I chatted with Ian was Jan 21, sending him strength. And some $$.

Great post & info for the Pelican community…!!
Thank you Shane as you have been behind the scenes since this accident happened, and you are an unsung hero keeping us all informed and helping him directly… Thanks, also Mario and other people that he has around him, but he truly does have a significant financial hardship now and any, and all help from people will help him incredibly… All your efforts will not go unnoticed… |

Very nice guy. Never met him but he did call me several times during my engine build a year ago and was nothing but helpful. I didn't solicit these calls either, he'd just call me out of the blue. I gladly donated.

Thanks for sharing, just donated. Ian was an immense help while I was tuning my 123 distributor and deciding on cams. The long and insightful conversations we had were always fun and educational.
|
Ian, thanks for all you do in our community! And we wish you a swift and positive recovery!

I've only talked to him on the phone once but the resounding memory from that conversation was "what a cool guy"
he is helpful, insightful and absolutely interested in helping others. Really hoping for a smooth recovery for him so he can get back to doing what he clearly loves, helping others and being a part of this community. |
Shane, thanks for leading on this.
Damn. I chatted with Ian just before I took a trip to South America in late January. He's been a great help to me too, as well as a good friend. Ian, get well quickly, so that we can joke about it, and you can drive Kermit and your Turbo again. And the Ford GT. Highest regards, Pete K. |
Unprompted, Ian reached out to me while I was considering a cam swap for the car. He was kind enough to offer thoughts and suggestions on the build. We chatted a few times, technical and otherwise and it was always an enlightening conversation and one that I enjoyed- I’m optimistic that I’ll get to have more of those!
