After Further Review…..………
Mike,
I have 5 complete motors and a ‘78 SC car in my garage that I inspected several times over before making this post. The ignition distributors all could be adjusted, rotated, removed and installed without any problem. The noticeable difference of your ignition distributor is the black plug. It seems to protrude more than normal. How many millimeters is the protrusion? Or something with the engine shroud or alternator strap causing the interference. If I were in your shoes, I would try another SC distributor just for test fitment. What is the Bosch ID # of the ignition distributor? I am sure you have another distributor in the garage you could use to determine the anomaly. I could not make the green wire plug/s of my 3.0 liter SC motors come even close to the engine shroud or alternator strap to cause the problem you are having. If the dizzy is NOT the culprit, it could be your engine tin hardware causing the interference. Keep us posted. Tony |

Yes, I also believe that black plug is sticking out further than the original.
