Ignition switch problem

On my 76 912E I think the ignition switch went. Turned the key partway to start the fuel pump then turned the key all the way on to engage the starter, there was no resistance at all. I turned the key to off and the pump was still running even after pulling the key out. I tried the key a couple more times and was unable to start it or to stop the pump from running. So ended up disconnecting the ground from the battery.

Not sure on how to proceed now, remove the whole switch or just the electrical part or???

If it’s anything like my ‘83 SC you gotta remove the whole ignition assembly and then you can mess with the electrical part. In my case it was easy to see the plastic bits that had broken and were causing the issue. It wasn’t particularly expensive or difficult to fix apart from getting the tamper resistant screws out
