info RE: VEMS & Peep Paadam

Hi guys, looks like we might have gotten scammed, contacted what we thought was Peep Paadam (he went under the name RACEBOY here years ago on Pelican) and uses the site address: https://www.vems.ee/vemspnp/ re: building/tuning a box for us, sent him the full payment and 3 weeks and counting no reply since he recieved the funds and his tel. number doesnt go thru and he's not replying to emails or facebook account, hope this was a legit sale and he's ok tho have a funny feeling we got taken. Multiple reasons for this post: if we got the right/real Peep and he's ok? anyone know him or how to reach him? and a third reason is to warn anyone else thinking of ordering off that "https://www.vems.ee/vemspnp/" to be forewarned from the look of it this site MIGHT not be the real Peep and be a scam? Anyway if anyone knows anything that would help we'd surely appreciate the help! thanks!

the only info I have:
Peep Päädam
Address: Aardla 17-1, 50112 Tartu, Estonia
Email address: peep@vems.ee
Phone: +37255505801

Hindsight is always 20/20, but there's several red flags with that site.

Different email addresses.
Its not even a website, its just a landing page
Having to order through email contact.
A simple Google search brings up the real site.

Hopefully you paid through credit card and can get the charge reversed. Sorry this happened. Be diligent everyone.

I bought from the real Peep/race boy a couple years ago. Took a while but he came through with everything as promised. I hope you figure things out.

thanks guys, hindsight is always 20/20, a simple or deep google search didn't bring up anywhere else where he replied in fact with a deeper dive Ive not found any correspondence where he's replied sooner then 2019 besides posting on Facebook and yes CC so I will hopefully get refunded the main thing is I still need the VEM ECU as Peep's does or any current shops info who are doing similar 88 pin/no drive block-immobilizer/ euro tune boxes as I still need to get my project fired up. My main hope here was either Peep saw this and connected with me or someone might have contact info for him or "real" him if that was a scam site I used.

Did you pay through Wise.com? That was his usual payment method.

This is a big concern for me, too. I'm still waiting for Peep to complete the VEMS kit including the VEMS ecu, harness wiring from VEMS to the engine, 12 COP's and wideband sensor. It's been 5 months since I sent payment via Wise.com to Peep. It's been 6 weeks since I last heard from him. I'm trying to be patient and hopefully he will come ship what I ordered. BTW, here's the email I used when corresponding with Peep: vemspnp@vems.ee

Unfortunately, that’s the same email listed on the landing page in question. Also, no legitimate business should be asking customers to pay through an app like Wise. That’s a major red flag. Wise is like Venmo, once you send the money, it’s gone. The difference is Venmo is limited to U.S. transactions, while Wise operates globally. The first rule of spotting scams is simple. if you’re asked to use an unusual payment method, it’s probably a scam.

He’s in a foreign country and wise.com works well for him. It’s not a scam. He is an individual making a custom harness to fit a specific engine.
My business accepts certain payments and not others. It’s how I decided to do business.
My experience with Peep was a while ago and while nobody would accuse him of being “Amazon” fast, the final result was exactly what he promised. Hopefully it will be the same for the people who have current business with him.

I'm not saying Peep is a scammer. I’ve dealt with him before and he was very helpful. Unfortunately, my concern is that neither the OP nor the other person is dealing with the real Peep. Scammers often create fake sites, and in this case, it isn’t even a full website, just a landing page.

If you go to the real website you can order parts directly from the site which has much more content. (forums, tech notes, etc.) Additionally, all the contact info is different than what's listed on that landing page. The email is similar but not exactly the same, so someone probably created that fake page. Don't order parts from landing pages people.

Real site: https://www.vems.com/

I have been emailing with him about getting a kit potentially made. The email address he’s been responding from is peep@vems.ee

I first emailed him a few questions in 2020 but didn’t order. Then picked back up the convo 2 weeks ago. He responded within 1 day to my question of whether he still makes them.

Then it took him 3 days to respond to a follow up question and he said he is busy traveling and the wait time is now longer than before - 8 weeks vs the “normal 4-5”. He also responded to my PM here that I sent to Raceboy a few weeks ago.

I’m guessing he uses multiple email addresses & site domains and it sounds like he’s backed up with work.

As I understand it VEMS is a somewhat generic open source system. The site you linked is if you were to buy VEMS yourself directly from them.

What Peep does is customize VEMS with our wiring harness to make it plug and play with our cars and also sells the other needed components of the kit - wideband sensor, MAP, etc.

Hence why he has his own site that is different from the main VEMS site.

Thanks for giving your report on your correspondence with Peep. It seems he has several different email addresses. I first contacted Peep at the end of March 2025 and sent payment (over 2300 euros) via Wise.com the following month (April 2025) for a fully optioned VEMS kit. He answered all technical questions and is very knowledgeable about VEMS and its tuning. But I have yet to receive it. I will just have to be patient for him to complete and ship the kit.

If I were you I would not send any money until Peep/Raceboy responds to this thread and perhaps until I receive the kit for your safety's sake.

Yea I’m sitting tight. I am in the middle of a tune up anyway and discovered my car already has a custom chip in it.

So likely ECU upgrades wouldn’t happen unless I decide to boost it or the AFM gives out.

I hope things work out well for you with VEMS, I’d love for that to be a viable option when the time comes for me.
