DE Car Prep Question
I did a DE back at the end of May and had the car fully prepped just before--new brake pads, brake fluid, full checkup by my mechanic and so on. I was thinking about doing another DE this weekend and was wondering if my car would need another thorough inspection from my mechanic. I've driven the car another 500 miles or so since the last mechanic visit and have had no problems with anything. What do you think? Thanks

Assuming you're in something like a green run group and didn't drive the car within an inch of its life at the previous DE or go badly off course with lots of smoke and noise, I don't see why you would have to do a thing. This is the sort of life Porsches were intended for. You will have to have it tech-inspected again, of course.

In the PCA regions around here I think you need to have the car Tech'd within 2 weeks of the event. I think most people at least bleed their brakes before an event.

Absolutely! But you shouldn't need new pads again. I'm surprised you didn't receive an inspection form for your wrench to fill out. You can find and download one from one of the region's websites. Try Potomac's (try this link http://www.pcapotomac.org/pca/html/de/2003PotomacTechForm.pdf).
Remember, you want to come out of the DE alive and with your car unscathed. The best way to insure that is to start with a thorough inspection. Shiny side up. Art |

If you had any issue at all w/ brakes, replacement of fluid and pads is likely called for.

It was just before the last DE in May the new ATE Blue brake fluid was put it. I ran the car pretty hard on day 2--day one was all rain. Is this all the longer this brake fluid is good for? Its been all easy street driving since. No issues with anything. I will speak to my mechanic as well and see what he thinks. Thanks for all the responses! I really want to do this DE but don't think I'll have time to get car worked on. I had to cancel my vacation plans for this weekend so it made the DE an option for me on late notice.

If the pedal went at all soft then the fluid boiled and needs replacement.
If the pedal requires more than normal force to do any ordinary stop then the pads are likely glazed andd need replacement. Depending on environmental conditions fluid should be replaced annually anyway.
