Fuel lines
So after starting my engine yesterday to warm up I walked back in the garage and found that the garage was filled with the smell of gasoline. I immediately turned the engine off opened the deck lid and gas was streaming out of the y-shaped fuel line on the front top of the engine.
I got the industrial fan to ventilate the area quickly and got the fire extinguisher close just in case. No fires thank goodness. I began removing the air box and filter housing as well as the air flow meter so I would have some more room to replace the lines. I went ahead and bought an entire kit from Mason's engineering. Does anybody have any good detailed articles on how to get to some of the hard to reach places? I know there's a few here but didn't know if anybody had particular ones to focus on. Thanks in advance |

I think Paul provide's good instructions, no? When I purchased the kit he provided a detailed writeup with pictures. I still texted him a bunch but the instructions were very helpful

Excellent, I was hoping to hear that I hope he's doing well. I could not find any contact information for him online but looking forward to seeing what comes with the kit.
You've had good experience with the products etc? |

Is it worth replacing the fuel pressure regulator at the same time since I'm in the area?

I too have a 1988 911 and need to replace my fuel cross over lines. Did you purchase 930-110-595-05? If you find any articles or videos on how to do with engine still in vehicle please let me know. I will continue to research nd if I find something I will post here.

We just pulled the entire intake assembly without too much hassle.
Definitely test your regulator and damper. Address the triangle of death, replace the breather hoses, and delete the ambient air valve. Send the injectors off for cleaning and testing, or replace them. Clean!

Breather hoses and ambient air valve? Hoses are the large diameter rubber hoses? Not sure where the other is?

It is the diaphragm system connected between the throttle body and the oil tank. Designed to keep the throttle plate from freezing in cold temperatures but can cause a lot of oil consumption smoking if it fails. You'll need to cap off the associated ports.

What's the secret too getting the nut free in the picture below? This is the bracket that holds the old steel fuel line in the back of the engine. I have put penetrating liquid on it and it still will not budge, I'm afraid I am going to round it off and then really be up a creek without a paddle!! Any help/advice much appreciated.

I’m not positive at what I’m looking at. I am sure wiser people will comment soon but it looks a bit like that nut is welded to the plate. Is there a bolt accessible from the other side?

I recently purchased the Paul Mason engine fuel line kit from our host and it came with no instructions. Seems VERY well made but I got the two lines that go to the fuel rain backwards but figured that out pretty quick. I only removed the heater fan since I had the engine out recently to replace everything clutch related and, of course, went nuts replacing everything I could touch since it was out. I had the original lines rebuilt at a local race shop but they still had a VERY minor leak that bugged me so ordered the Mason replacement. It can be difficult the get the hoses lined up properly and then tighten them down, but its doable.
