Replacing Starter in 1985 3.2 Carrera M491 ROW Vehicle
I decided to purchase an aftermarket high torque starter. I noticed that two wires bolt on to the post with the smaller green wire fastening to the clip. I worked on older German cars and most starter leads had their own post.

Presumably, there's a question in there. Maybe it's a clever non sequitur.

![]() ![]() It is very important to get the correct 3/8" extensions because the tool will not clear the firewall when removing the backside barrel bolt. 915 gearbox. The high torque starter is much smaller and lighter in weight. Last edited by greg79s; 08-31-2025 at 02:00 PM.. |

Project was completed. The sound of the starter is different. Fires the car up nicely. I am going to rebuild the OEM starter.
