Spark Plug Wires Question
Hi,
I am in the process of adding ignition control to the ECU for my 1977 911 S Targa. I currently have a fuel-only setup and I am planning for the installation of an MSD Streetfire with a Pertronix ignitor to run the ignition via the MS2 357 ECU I have installed. The question I have relates to spark plug wires. Currently I have what I think is original braided plug wires with a ground that connects behind the coil. The MSD and Pertronix documentation say I should use either of these systems with a solid core plug wire. I don't believe the wires I have are solid core but I'm looking for confirmation/clarification. A number of posts I have found talk about using the Clewett Plug Wires available from Pelican, are these needed for my setup or just recommended? Thoughts?

The clewett wires are great, clewett is great.
It’s still unclear how with your stock dizzy, pertronix and MSD street fire, you’re getting timing control. You can use the pertronix and the mad to replace points and the cdi, but that system still relies on the dizzy for timing. I had that exact setup and the Megasquirt wasn’t at all able to control timing. It was only when the dizzy was removed that timing control was possible. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Julian,
I've been trying to work it out and this is my plan: Ignitor black wire connects to pin 24 on the ECU Ignitor red wire connects to switched power MSD White wire connects to pin 36 on the ECU MSD Orange and Black to the Coil MSD Gray to Tach MSD Red to switched Power MSD Thicker-Red to Battery + MSD Black to Batter - The following article talks about how to configure TunerStudio so that this should work: https://diyautotune.com/blogs/technical-articles/pertronix-ignitor?srsltid=AfmBOorfW3c4qt9xZQGJSYbTUidLwap52p nmFFv3o7sP20GIQkBvmLki I've found some posts where the Distributor can be locked out to eliminate mechanical advance Al has posted that this isn't a requirement. This may be a work in-progress for the advance. Did you run a MSD as well? Also, if I'm reading this correct using Pertronix and MSD is how Dan had his set up: https://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/1146269-cis-itb-efi-conversion.html
