Seperating Transmission From Engine

I know it's been covered here - I have the engine and tranny out, and am looking to separate them to fix a bunch of oil leaks... as I am looking at them, what's connecting the clutch arm to the engine? it's probably a dumb question and when I get them apart, I will see they are connected internally?

you have to remove the big Omega spring arm.If it did not slide by itself ,that would mean there is a steel pin holding it in place on the shaft. You have to remove it so the shaft of the clutch fork will be free to spin, in order to move away the clutch fork which is still in the TO bearing.
Hopefully you can get it in the air to remove the pin

You just have to take the circlip off the bottom of the clutch arm and remove th short arm the the throwout bearing arm can rotate freely and release the clutch

super helpful - let me give that a shot... I haven't thought about removing the big omega spring for a while since I replaced it 10 years ago. I'll report back. Thanks!

The omega spring should be free to rotate on the vertical shaft doesn’t need to be removed
Including the arm on the spring.

Yup true....,hopefully the arm is not frozen to the shaft-most of the time they are ..not lubricated

My experience with the omega spring is its a pain the less you mess with it the better I will be glad to see it gone when I install the G96 trans early next year

solved - I now remember I did remove the pin when I replaced the Omega spring, checked that I remembered correctly with a nail, and just tapped it off the shaft... after that, was easily able to walk the tranny and engine apart... thanks, guys!

now it's time to do engine seals, and also think about how much I want to get into the tranny... 3rd is a little crunchy when going into it, even with everything well adjusted...

When you connect the transmission to the engine, double and triple check to make sure you got the throw out bearing connected to the clutch arm.

Sometimes it goes together the first time and sometimes it takes a while

I see this question comes up all the time. Just like in this thread, there is never a clear picture with proper names. So here it is.

Remove the Small Lever and Large Lever. Pull engine away from gearbox.
