911sc ignition/starter problem
I havent started my 80sc in 10 days, up until then everything had been fine, I turn the key and all i here is the fuel pump, i removed the battery and it was given a clean bill of health, cleaned the post's still nothing, i got under the car to check connections at the starter and found the wire to terminal 50 frayed badley, i fixed that problem with a new wire and connector yet the starter wont engage, thinking the starter gave up the ghost i took two screw drivers and jumped the starter terminals and it started right up. any ideas? is it my ignition switch?

If jumping the starter does the trick, but turning the key doesn't then that is a likely cause.

or the solenoid. Do you have a Bentleys manual? It goes through the voltage checks to troubleshoot the starter system. Looks like you’ve got it nail down to two possibilities.
