Just bought a 77 911 carrera and bring it home next week.
it has fresh paint (red) new tires runs great and has the 2.7 engine that seems not to have a good rep. I read everything possible on this site about the chains, studs, etc. The car does not have the 11 blade blower now, but will have it on as soon as I get her home. I test drove the car for 2 hrs and the temps where good. The speedo and the temps are kilometers and the temps are in celsius. Does this mean it is a euro car, I get the title and car next week. Was also wondering what the word on the gauge Druenk, says, I think#$%@ and goes from 2 to 170? thanx for your comments. P.S. I traded my 77 924 that was all Oem and some cash. Had A 914 in 1978. Later Chris

I have been like alittle kid, Cant, hardly what tills shes home.!!!!!!

As a fellow new 911 owner (ans past 914 owner), welcome to the club. It's a great one to be in!
Druck. Oil pressure. But I thought that your year it read 0-140 (?). So that doesn't convert well for pressure. I am an SC owner so I can't really go check.
How do you know it is a 77 'Carrera', is it listed on the title (that you don't have)? Have you check your VIN's yet?

Welcome! How's about a few glamour shots?

Druck on the gauge is associated with the oil pressure gauge. It should show a range from 0 to 5.

Cheers.

It does sound like a euro car. If it's a true '77 euro Carrera then it should have a 3 liter CIS engine or a 2.7 MFI engine & the same rear flares as an SC. The speedo can be easily converted to mph(if its a Carrera it is 290 kph - 180 mph), the Druck guage is oil temperature(50&degC to 150&degC) and pressure(0 - 10bar) A Carrera 3.0 will have a red zone that starts at 6800rpm

I feel stupid Anyway on my post I stated it was a carrera, well its a coupe 77 2.7 I was not sure but the guy selling has a decale on the lower doors that said Carrera, He did not sell it as one, it was my doing, I just wanted a 911 and finally have one. When I get the car, the carrera decals are coming off, I will be taking the car back to OEM,Thats the way I have done all my cars,914,x19,924, gt6,mg midget, mgbgt, now 911. I know one guy asked about the title, its at the guys bank and my title is in my hand. The bank wanted to see my 924 we are trading titles and cash monday I am still happy with the deal, carrera, targa etc, Just glad it is 911. I just wanted to clear that up because of my first post it may have sounded like I got a car, gave the man my car and money and he kept the title and I got a carrera when it was just a coupe. Anyway thanx for the welcome and the answers to my question and many more to come. Chris, I wished Monday was here!!!!!!!!!

Hey Newman, don't worry about the speedo being in Kilometers. I live in a kilometer sort of a country and mine is in mph so maybe we could do swaps some time in the future.

Chris.... LEAVE THE BOARD NOW!!!!..... WHILE YOU CAN....... it will become an expensive addiction if you stay around. Symptons start with a single repair and then progresses to "while you are there" and finally "projectits".

Get the AMEX ready.

The Carrera decals on the doors were present on the US 2.7L Carrera's, perhaps they had them on Euro ones as well?

You said the car runs cool but your going to install an 11 blade fan , why ? I have the same set up on my 77s and when I mentioned changing my fan to 11 blades my mechanic said I was just spending money for nothing . My car in the mid summer heat runs at about 190-195. If you really want to improve the car install some SSI's . Thanks

Congrats on the car and welcome. I bought a 76 911S about three months ago and have become completely obsessed. I too was a little nervous about the 2.7, but the car has all the updates (tensioners, 11-blade fan, turbo valve covers) on the engine and it runs really strong. As mentioned, be ready for a strong addiction to your "new" car and this board.

Thanx for all the responses, I am going to try to answer questions that some of you ask. The vin 9117301749 1977 911S. I live in Springfield Ohio. The temps are 80 ot 90 C. the oil preassure at 3000 Rpms is about 26 at this temp. Runs great and I have put 655kilometer. She is leaking a drop of oil down on the left heatX, timing chains seem to be quite, the clocks works great, runs strong, no smoke. I have spent many hrs this week end on the light seals, wires, lights, radio, waxing etc and driving.
I have some question< What is the gage that says OEL? and has a little curved white line and a red box aon the bottom of the red line, what is this guage, the needle points 2/4 up the line, What is the biggest tires I can run with no rubbing, do you use the same size all the way around, Help. I was going to put the 11 blade fan on it but someone said if it is running cool forget about the fan, Dont know what chain tensioner are on it, should I go ahead a change, do you get any warning before they break. Where do the window fluid go in at, the gas cap area? What wieght oil should I run, is the K-tronic fuel injectin pretty reliable? Thats all for now. Chris

Someone ask if it looks like the red 911 that is posted, Yes it does and is the same color and has only 1 mirror and someone has put a color matched whale tail. My car looks as clean as this one posted, but the rims look like a Ferria but they are the original. Chris
