trans number decode?

911.301.101 or 901.301.301, i know its off a 71 but im not sure if its a 4 or 5 speed? Thanks in advance.

Where did you get those numbers? The numbers that you want to look for are stamped on a pad on the bottom of the outside of the case, on the right side, directly below the right side axle flange. There will be the serial number and the model number like 911/01. Sometimes it gets pretty gunked up, so you may need some degreaser and a wire brush.
