What Do You Think Of This HP Gain Software?
Hey guys, would you download and play with this bit of free 911 horsepower analysis software from Protomotive. Download and run the file "hpgain.exe".
Edit: Runs in a DOS box. Arrow up/down to move between values, arrow left/right to change values. "Baseline" motor appears to be a NA 3.2. http://www.netquest.net/~knighton/software.htm Do you think it is accurate for NA motors? For turbo'd motors? Edit: I was impressed at how much HP gain is allegedly produced by relatively low boost. According to the software, just 4 psi gives more HP than increasing displacement to 3.8L (new P&Cs and crank) and C.R. to 11:1.

So this software says the Protomotive stage 1 - 0.5bar boost, stock 9.5:1 CR, stock displacement, no intercooler (efficiency = 0%) - should give 347HP. Well, that'd satisfy me, at least so I'd tell my wife.
I wonder how long the motor would live. Maybe there's some way to have a bypass so that I'd only have boost when I wanted it, rather than subjecting the car to boost all the time. I think I'm going to spend some time on the Protomotive board . . .
