Do a search under John Walker's Workshop. Enough said.

Welcome to Seattle! You should join us for the swap-meet next weekend. See the first "sticky" post on the BBS for details.

Eric,
I just finished reading about the swap meet. I really wish I could be there, but I'm out of town until the following tuesday. I am looking forward to meeting all of the porsche-people.

Etip, welcome to the Great Northwest. You will need to report for SCWDP for assimulation ASAP. I think we're running up to Canada next year.

After you've gone through some of the other suggestions, try calling a place called 'John Walker's Workshop,' in Seattle.

Unrelated, but odd, trivia point: for about three years, I wrote under the pseudomym 'John Walker.'

It's a secret underground society. You have to prove your worth....and then, put something silly on your head

Hi Etip,

You are arriving in a city that has so many great choices in Porsche mechanics and tuners. Are you looking for service-maintenance or fine tuning your SC for track or autocross? A lot of us go down to Seattle from Vancouver for the services of Greg Fordahl of Fordahl Motorsports, the best Porsche performance person I know of. Good luck and welcome to a very active PCA region.

My car is serviced by JohnW. When John couldn't perform a PPI (I didn't give him but 1/2 a day notice...) he recommended Denny Aker's up on Capitol Hill. Denny is great (big Indian fan).

Britwrench posts here and represents a shop whose name escapes me. They are building a nice reputation as well.

Other's (if memory serves) are Squire's over on the Eastside.

Trueline performs solid alignments as well.

John

I am feel very good that JW works on my car.

Denny Akers (Capitol Hill) and Squires (Hellevue) have good reputations.

At one point in time or another...in the last 15 years I have tried all of them on multiple occasions (except Squire's).

Best so far is Aker's, Chris's German Auto Service (Bellevue), and Redmond European.

Even here in Missouri we think John Walker's Workshop is the best in Seattle!

You hit it on the head, Don. My middle name is Daniel. And writing under the names Ol' Grandad or Jim Beam seemed unwise.

I've spent a bit of time over at John Walker's Workshop.
Here's a few things I've noticed:

1) He often throws business to Gerber or Akers.

2) Happy customers stop by just to bring him (good)beer. (I don't think he ever has to buy his own)

3) He knows everthing 911.

Does anyone still believe in "coincidence?"

Yes, Seattle is blessed with some very good Porsche shops, I am told. My personal experience is somewhat limited, but if I were going to take a 911 to Peru and back with a hip pocket full of tools, I'd rather have John Walker with me than anyone else on the planet. Any guy, that is.

I wonder how long it might take John to rebuild an engine blindfolded.

If JW likes beer so much, bring him some Amber Ale from Full Sail Brewery in Hood River.
