Can struts make a clicking noise?

When pushing down on passenger side front end, I get a clicking noise with each strut compression. I crawled under the car while wife (much to her displeasure) pushed the front end. All other components look tight and the sound "appears" to be coming directly from the strut. I watch while it compressed and the sound was happening each time. I check the mounts in the trunk and they are fine as well as all other suspension components.

The PO changed struts out to Boge only 5K miles ago. This does not seem to effect driving but sure is annoying.

Could it be something else? Very difficult to tell but from all angles I swear it is the strut. If it is the strut, should I replace?

Thanks for any tips
Chris

I would start by disconnecting the sway bar and see if it is still there. That would at leat eliminate that possibility.

Also, check the top mounts. Mine went bad and 'clicked' like crazy. In my case the top of the strut was moving maybe 1/4" as the rubber mount was completely gone.

Good luck!
