Like I said, it's huge...the battery in my 928S that is. It's an Interstate Mega-Tron 750 CCA. After I got home and went to back it out so I could drive my true love (911SC), all of the warning lights came on the dash. So, I'm recharging the battery and planning to take it to my wrench, hopefully tomorrow.

Thanks for all of the support!

Just had the alternator replace with an original Bosch unit. The rebuilt ones have plastic that hold the minor diodes. Three of the six minor diodes were fried. Since the orginal Bosch units have metal that holds the minor diodes AND they run cooler (13.4V-orig. vs. 14.4V-rebuilt) that this will solve the problem.

Anyway, since three of the minor diodes were still operational, it's possible that I was getting some charge. But when I rev'd the engine, there was no indication on the voltmeter in the dash of the car. Just wanted to let anyone reading this know that it might not have been all battery that got me from Austin to Houston.

I drove from Northern Vermont to Rhode Island w/out an alternator once in a Saab. I had two cars following me though, and we traded batteries every half hour or so. They charged the batteries while driving and I ran on the charged batt. until it died. It was a very long night but we made it. Know two buddies willing to help you out?
