Received my 3.6 exhaust, and I’m exhausted!

I finally received my B&B exhaust for the 3.6 today and I’m pissed off. I ordered it through Windward, great price, cr@ppy service. Here again is another reason that I wish Pelican carried everything. If Pelican does carry B&B exhaust after all, please don’t tell me or I will have to kick my own @ss.

I gave them three weeks, on an order that they said I would receive in a week, before I called. I figured that if B&B was being slow that wasn’t their fault, no biggie.

First call, “I’ll give them a call and call you right back”. Second call, next day b/c I never received a call back, “he’s at lunch right now, he’ll call you right back”. Third call, third day b/c he never called the second time, “please hold…oh, he said to tell you that it should ship today”.

OMG, I don’t care if there is a problem, I’m pretty easy going about those kinds of things. All I really expect is for them to talk to me about it.

So I’m looking over my shiny brand new Billy Boat Exhaust, sure looks purdy. Wait a minute, where is the O2 sensor hole? OMG again! I go check out the instructions thinking maybe I need to have it put on myself. Nope, they gave me the wire extension and everything but no hole.

So now I need to decide if I want to call them about it and have them send me a new one, which, judging by the last month’s performance, should be here by Christmas. I’m thinking about just saying screw it and welding my own in there.

I don’t know if I can take dealing w/ them anymore. If I knew that they would be really good about getting it taken care of and talking to me about it I wouldn’t be as upset but I know that it will a big p.i.t.a. sending it back to them, waiting, calling, waiting, being avoided, waiting, etc.

Just needed to vent a bit, what do you guys think I should do?

Have a beer, then get on the phone and call them!! Dont let stuff like this just go away. I know your frustrated and honestly these guys need to know it. Make them do it right or send it back for full refund. You deserve better and so does the next guy and they wont change unless people call them on it.
Sorry for the rant Ryan but had one of those days and one of my suppliers got on earfull from me today. And Im pretty easy going myself.
Ok time for a cup of warm herbal tea to help calm down.

I'd go ahead and have the muffler shop pop in an O2 bung. No big deal.

Regarding the warranty; has anyone here ever had a set of headers "fail"?

Your experience with Windward is not unusual. Some places, no matter how good the price, are not worth the hassle.

Sory to hear that Unlike their mufflers the B&B headers are strurdy reliable pieces, they do discolor w/ time, if you want to keep them shiny get them coated. Installing a bung is not a big deal.

Agreed, I don't understand how some places manage to stay in business.

Drinking Gin now.

I think I’ll call them tomorrow and tell them I want the right one, but I’m still not sure I want to send it back.

I did get the one out muffler w/ it which isn’t suppose to have resonance issues like the two out. It was < $200 more for the whole package than it was for just the headers and install kit. I figured for that price I’ll give it a try, I can weld if I need to but hopefully it will hold up a while. I couldn’t get a Flowmaster done up for that price.

BTW- first time dealing w/ Windward, probably never will again.

Not to turn this thread into a bash of Windward but I also have had a bad experience with them. I bore everyone with the details but my feeling about them is that they are unethical and I would never buy anything from them again.

I called them this morning and came to the simple solution that they will send me the O2 sensor bung and I’ll weld it in. I think this will eliminate more aggravation for me as opposed to returning it and playing the waiting game hoping that I get the right stuff. Not a perfect solution but it’ll work.

I asked about me welding it in affecting the warranty and they said no problem (yeah right) not that I’m worried about it. I haven’t heard of anybody having a problem w/ the headers.

The 3.6 was delayed in London so I pick it tomorrow now. Getting excited!
