Unusual Tachometer Problem
On my 75 911S, the tachometer has a low output. While the car is idling or running the tach reads around 1000rpms lower or slower than it should. This is not a low idle speed problem where the engine is running too slow. This is a low reading on the tach where the engine is running at a faster rpm than what the tach reads. I've cleaned the ignition points and checked the dwell both are ok.I've also checked the rpms with a hand held tach which reads around 1000rpms faster than what the tach shows. Could this be a short in the wiring somewhere or a bad cd unit. Could someone walk me through a logical way of checking things out. I have a digital multimeter and don't mind trying to trace this thing down. Any help appreciated. Bill
