Isn't this a CIS car? What cams does it have? I thought that the lobes on those pistons cause a lot of problems with CIS. Interesting. Anyway, definite congratulations on getting it home and kudos for getting to keep the 924S.

Don't know what cams it has but yes, it is still CIS equipped and runs just fine. Knock on wood! :D

Hmmm...well, normally I'd say it would have the 'S' cams since it's an 'S' model, but I think RS cams and pistons are 10.3:1 (or 10.8:1...it's late and my mind is wandering). 'S' pistons were 8.5:1 compression and you can generally expect about a 10% increase in HP per compression point...maybe 30-35 hp increase. That should put the car in the just over 200 hp at the crank. The RS model was listed at 208.

I'm curious about how your torque curve compares to other stock 2.7's...mine has great power in the lower band, maybe yours extends through the middle. Also, stock 2.7's start to 'run out of breath' around 5K even though they will of course go to redline...you're just not pulling hard anymore. My prediction with your car would be strong pulling all the way. Awwww...guess your assignment will be to go out and drive the car hard tomorrow. Explain to your girlfriend that even though you don't want to do it, this is necessary. ;)

The car does indeed pull strongly up to 6000rpm and beyond. There's a real surge at 3000rpm and it just keeps going. The engine was dynoed after the rebuild at 220hp at the flywheel, not sure how that would translate to rear wheel horsepower (what is the driveline loss of a 911?). Of course, I'd have to factor in the A/C compressor loss as well although I don't think this really comes into play unless the A/C is running. There is a slight, but noticeable drop in horsepower with the A/C on but I've only had it on for a short time just to see how well it worked.

As for driving the car hard, if I mention it to my girlfriend, she's libel to grab the keys and offer to do it herself! :)

Aside: check the time of your post bigchill... 9:11. Very cool. :D

Driveline loss for a 911 is around 15%.

15%?

Well, that confirms how sick my 2.7 was, back when it dynoed at a lowly 113 rwhp... :( Good thing it's much better now! ;)

Well...naturally...

Ok, that settles it...I must know what was done to your car! I've been racking my brain with threads lately on how to boost a 2.7 CIS to 200 hp levels without forced induction. What I've heard is what yours does shouldn't happen with radical cams, etc. Can you find out about the cams? Are the RS...964 grind...20/21 grind...plain 'S'?! Is the intake stock or ported/polished? Fuel delivery upgraded? 3.0 fuel distributor and WUR? Enquiring mids (I mean minds) want to know!

I'll go through the bills and see what I can find. With the 15% loss, my car should be 187rwhp which it does feel like.
