Adam,
That second pic of yours is truly outstanding! It belongs in a mag! Late breaking news: The car is coming home on Saturday! The rest of this week is going to draaaaaaag... :)
|
Hey! Congratulations!!
It'll be worth the wait. |
Great news...really sounds like a victory for a mid-year car...kind of like a 'rescue'! Glad the car will be in good hands, we really need to preserve the mid-year car, there are only a few years of them and we're the red-headed stepchildren on the board.
Let us know your squawk list and if you have any CIS related issues, etc., don't hesitate to e-mail me if you need help! Too bad you're not closer...gold and silver go well together and I'm like the lone ranger here in Arkansas (well, almost)! ;) Ryan Here's a rear shot for 'ya... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1064461832.jpg |
Is that a later Carrera 3.2 reflector between your taillights?
I do prefer your smaller bumper "tits" than the huge rubber blobs on my rear... :p |
Yeah, good eye..it is the later style reflector. The PO put it on because the old one cracked in the center and he was having difficulty locating the original style. I still consider changing back and may some day, but in person it looks nice in a very subtle way. People here in general confuse my car for mid - late 80's cars...not many knowledgable Porschephiles...the just guess based upon condition. :)
The small ones are nice. Thanks. They would be expensive to replace...I think they're $125 new...each. Ryan |

Congradulations! Really nice looking car! (But then I am biased...)

Well I picked up the car last night and have to say that it's everything I've been dreaming about. This thing's got tons of power (10.3:1 compression) and makes the sweetest noises.
Here's a pic from 7:00am this morning: http://gallery.rennlist.com/albums/D...1/DSCF0009.jpg Hey, could you sleep in knowing you have a "new" 911 parked outside??? :) |
Ah... another 924S owner gets bitten by the 911 bug!
-MAS (... who, also would have kept his 924S if he could have afforded to have had both) |
Got the foglights back on... looks soooo much better! :)
|
Very nice. What modifications did the P.O. perform on the engine?
|
"Got the foglights back on... looks soooo much better!"
'bout friggin' time ;) -MAS |
Here we are as of this afternoon... don't mind the lack of tan on my legs... :D

Engine mods: 10.3:1 compression pistons, Carrera oil-fed chain tensioners, time-certs, dilavar studs, SSI heat exchangers, fender-mounted oil-cooler, 11 blade fan (stock for 1975?). Runs like a beast!
Here's some shots from this morning's cruise with MAS: http://gallery.rennlist.com/albums/albup19/DSCF0007.jpg http://gallery.rennlist.com/albums/albup19/DSCF0012.jpg http://gallery.rennlist.com/albums/albup19/DSCF0001.jpg :) |
Again, that's a cool car! ;)
What's it like with the 10.3:1 pistons? How does it idle etc? |
Idles smoothly at about 900rpm. Really revs like crazy when I'm into it but I'm hearing slight detonation at full throttle (under load) with 94 octane fuel. I'm going to mix in some 100LL Avgas (it's free from work ;)) and see how it is. I may have to back off the timing slightly to compensate for our lousy gas.
