Suspension Bushing Install? Help

I need some help here. I am trying to install some polyeurathane bushings on my '71 911 s. THe bushings are located on the sway bar and connect to the "bannana" arm. I was able to place the bushings in the hoops on the sway bar but when I tried to press them on the bannana arm they popped out. I tried every thing to get them on, grease, heat, pressure (ie quick grip), pounding and to no avail. Please help so I can drive her again.

Get a big C-Clamp and try to clamp it together. Slowly tighten the clamp and when it gets close to popping over the "ball joint" tap it with a hammer. A little grease helps as well.

I used BF vice grips to pop the cup on the ball.

What worked for me was taking the tires off. That way you can use a pry bar or any long bar for that matter and using the bar against the part of the frame near the wheel pop it on the ball.
Worked great!

I used a Stanley "wonderbar", a foot long prybar after trying just about everything else.

I wedged it against one of the springplate bolts and with minor hand pressure it popped on, even with the new poly bushings. It's all about the right tool and the right angle.

Car on Jacks?

When you pooped the bushings on did you have the car jacked up, on ramps, or on the ground?

I think it's the same as a 74. If it is, I drilled a very small hole in the end of the cup (I learned it from a racer who ownes his own shop, so I guess it's legit). It releases air pressure when trying to pop it on. Then, like the others said, use leverage and a little lube.

That sounds like a great idea to get it on there. Drill a hole to release the air pressure. Thanks, that should help.

Soaking them in hot water helps a little too.

Only poop on them after an Italian dinner the night before. It's all in the olive oil
