2.2E spec. questions..

Was the 2.2L ever installed in 1973 911's? I thought the 2.4L was the only displacement that year?

What HP did the 2.2L E spec provide. An engine I am looking at, is stated to be a '73 2.2E with MFI.

Thanks for your help!

Chris

2.2E was used in '70 and '71. It is NOT the correct motor for a '73. HP rating of a 2.2E is 155.

The engine number will tell you what it started life as.

A 911E engine number should be

62X yyyy

6 for 6 cylinder, 2 for 911E (911T could be 61 or 65, 911S is 63)

the number at X is the year,

9=69 (2.0 Liter)
0=70, 1=71 (2.2 Liter)
2=72, 3=73. (2.4 Liter)

yyyy is the sequential serial number.

Hope this helps,

Tom

This looks to be a 1971 2.2. I dont think this case would have piston squirters? Prolly a 3R case?

Not sure what this engine would be worth since one had to assume it would need rebuilding.

your thoughts?

A '71 should have piston squirters.

I would think it is probably worth $1000 if it is in need of a rebuild and the MFI is intact.
