O2 Sensor replacement frequency

How often do you folks replace the O2 sensor? I believe mine is the original in an 86 3.2 with 64k miles. The car seems to run fine but sorta seems to smell rich at idle.

BTW, does anyone know what the little black electrical plug is with a cap that is next to the idle stabilizer motor on a 3.2? Is it some kind of test connection?

I just replaced the O2 sensor on my 86 at about 67 K miles. The old one was covered in white crust and car definitely runs smoother now with new one. Use a 19" breaker bar and O2 remover socket along with a healthy dose of PB Blaster to get it out.

I think the suggested replacement is at 60,000.

That's what I've heard and always assumed--60,000 miles.
