Accident is paid for I need bumper help Please!
Okay, I know there was a long thread about the RUF conversion but I just can not get the search to work correctly if someone has it saved could they post it please? Also, when you go the RUF or other light weight bumper route how much safety do you lose? Is there anything behind the fiberglass shell of the bumper? Obviously I am not springing for the true RUF pieces, I hear they are very expensive. Who do you guys think makes the best repros? and what should I expect to pay?
Lets see some pics of these bumpers. I am going duck and I am thinking about the bumpers too…. Lets see the look !

This is Souk's original "ultimate RUF thread".
Ultimate RUF Conversion Thread These are threads on the RUF bumper specifically, including the group buy that Souk organized and on RUF bumper + ducktail. Ruf look bumpers with a ducktail pics? RUF bumper update Show me your RUF CTR bumpers from BW (Group Buy) I'm thinking about the RUF bumpers too, but it'll have to wait until after the New Year.

"How much safety do you loose?"
If you install a bumper shell, you will get the protection of a piece of fiberglass in an impact. No where near factory or DOT specs. To me. the later the car, the greater the risk as the early cars didn't have much protection to start with. In fact, fiberglass might even absorb a little more energy than the thin metal bumpers of the early cars. |

Having had an impact with an immovable object with my standard-bumpered Carrera I can't believe anyone would risk life and limb, and precious sheet metal, by replacing structural pieces with fiberglass. My aluminum bumpers held up phenomenally and did their job, they protected me and my car from more serious damage. I doubt the same would be true with fiberglass components. To each their own I guess. They do look cool.

here's a link with how I put mine on. I'm sure you've seen the car before, but here's some more details. Ignore the reference to Paintscratch.com...when you paint, buy a gun, and shoot it with actual paint that uses hardner. Painting is much more fun with a gun and the results are better.
