I bought a conversion kit at a swapmeet but I'm not sure if the brackets that came with the kit will work on my engine.
The description says, "converts 84 to 89 Nippondenso or York to Sanden." I think this kit may have come from Perf. Prod. or Automotion. I have an 82 SC with the stock AC compressor. Is the kit a drop-in replacement for my car? Or do I need to locate a bracket to make it work? I'm not sure what changes Porsche made to the AC compressor between 82 and 84. Thanks!

Porsche didn't make any changes to the A/C compressor until the end of the SC cars. They went from a York compressor to a Nippondenso. They went from flare fittings to o-ring fittings.
If you have the York to Sanden bracket you should be able to bolt the compressor onto the existing bracket that is attached to the engine. Look under the Technical articles for A/C under this forum. You will have to change the compressor to the rear condensor hose and add another hose for the hose from the evaporator to the compressor. Similar installation but with a Seiki-Seiko rotary compressor ![]() Last edited by ruf-porsche; 09-22-2003 at 10:13 AM.. |
