Template for modified 930 calipers?
Does anyone have a template for modifying 930 rear calipers to fit a Carrera? The pictures I have seen do not seem to indicate that the machine work is particularly difficult and I have access to a very good machinist (my father in-law) who will do the work for free.
I am not trying to cut into anyone's business, but this does not seem like a >$200 job. Thanks! |

I'm not promising, but I have some 930 rear calipers that have been modified. Maybe I can measure them this weekend.

I think VCI is over $400 and Powertech is about $200.
Father in-law who can machine them for you: priceless. -Chris

Chris, if you could just trace the mounting area including the holes, that would be fantastic!
Send me a PM if you can. Thanks! |

I looked at my calipers and the irregular shape doesn't lend itself to making a drawing. Sorry.

I'm all for saving a few bucks, but, don't you think people like VCI's trashed a few calipers before the got them right? And if you don't get these correct, what's a caliper go for? But, if you really must try, here are some pictures. You can get the landmarks off the calipers themselves and get it pretty close. The rears are countersunk also with an aluminum spacer. There also is an area that is shaved off and a banjo fitting to change the angle of the brake line.

Great info!
Now a question: we have 930 calipers that have been machined and drilled, but holes aren't countersank: ![]() Is there anybody who can answer this question: How thick should spacers be and how deep should we countersunk the holes? Is it possible to install calipers w/o countersunking the holes? Thanx!

These don't have to be countersunk. I think it is just a mean of securing a spacer without building up the distance with washers. The fronts used two washers to get the caliper centered. As far how large a spacer to use, just use the appropriate size needed to center the caliper over the rotor. You could still use your flush milled caliper and add metric washers until its centered. Since I don't have them off the car, The counter sink was about 2mm and the spacer 5-6mm.
