Pristine Weissach on eBay
A couple questions for those of you in the know...
This car looks to be in "as new" condition. Do you think the price is realistic? There are a couple BS statements in the DESCRPITION THAT YELLS AT YOU, but seems to be a concours car. When evaluating a used car, it seems as though there are various levels of condition; poor fair good excellent For cars that appear to be well above excellent, what % would you tack on for a true concours, "time machine" car? I saw some 356's at the GAF that absolutely amazed me. They literally looked brand new. here's the link; |
Man - that guy should get a medal for keeping a car looking like that in Buffalo. He must have stored it 9 months out of the year. The ride height looks really high to me, but many people on this board will appreciate the view that gives of his extremely clean wheel wells. I would say that car may be worth what he is asking.

On the ride hieght thing. Looks like he's got 40(maybe)profile tires on 15 inch rims? One has to wonder why such a pristine car needed new rubber with only 29k miles.. my..$0.02
let me rethink this a little. first set of rubber lasts 15K miles, he's on his second set(which look to be sized wrong) showing maybe 1/2 wear, that 7 to 10k miles, which does add up to 25k on a stretch. so, my bad........... |
Those engine shots can't be from the same car, as the car just sits too high to have an engine in it!
|
It's a very nice SC, but not a $25k one. I particularly like his statement, "I AM SADLY SELLING THIS EXTRAORDINARY JEWELL OF A CAR TO PAY FOR MY SONS COLLAGE. " I take it that the collage in question is the photo collage of the SC?
Back to the car, what a load of hooey. What 930 chassis and interior options are on it? It's a std SC with the bilstein shocks, spoilers, the wider 15" wheels, sport seats, special color, full leather and the platinum paint. I do like the Weisach edition, but not at that price. I know that half of the cars were painted black and half were platinum. Has anyone ever seen a black one? I haven't. Jerry |
Regarding the ride height, I worked at a couple Porsche dealers from the mid 70's to mid 80's, and that's how the cars looked when they came off the truck. There were minimum (fed regulated) bumper height requirements, and the 911's all came in like that. During their "A service" which was when the car was inspected at the dealer, all cars (at least at these dealers) received a "lower and align" along with the inspection.

the ride height is definatly off
what is that thin with the yellow dot behind the left front wheel? college : i don't get married , i don't breed offspring i keep my Porsche till the day i die |

That's a car with a lot of potential.
Imagine lowering it to 25"/24.5", dropping in some H4s and just enjoying it, or going the whole SSI route etc. |
So that's what my intearior should look like. :( That is obviously a near perfect example of a platinum Weissach, except for the Fram oil filter & the lack of tensioner upgrade. I think he can probable get $25k for it. Just not this year. That is the third Weissach I've seen going for that kind of jack & as far as I know none have sold.
The gentleman selling this car didn't have his facts straight. There were 400 Weissachs made 200 in platnium, & 200 in black. "clear & solid cut above a standard 911" & " many 930 suspension components & interior options ". They came with 1" wider wheels (7/8s), Bilstein sports, & sport seats. "white gold & champagne interior" no, it was called Doric Grey. " $5k more than the standard 911 & just $2k less than a 930 of the same year ($32k) ". I have the window sticker from my car, $34,655. One thing he did get correct, " the SC series, which anyone who knows anything about 911s, is the most reliable 911 ever built & possible the best 911 ever built ". :D About the ride height, he has 225/50 all the way around. Mine is simular, but I can't lower it till next year & I like to have the extra rubber on the road. All I have seen in ads & on this board are platinum Weissachs, there has to be more black ones out there. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1064528622.jpg |

See, Porche was thinking about the Cayenne even back in 1980...I am glad to see that he is selling this "jewell to pay for [his] son's collage". He missed the boat....and it must be one hell of a school project!

It is a good looking car. Clean and straight. But I don't think I could get used to the rust/red carpet.
