Woo-Hoo Removed A/C !
I have been thinking about removing my a/c system on my
82 911 for months now. Its a Targa, so I really dont need a/c, plus its an inefficient system & makes my car run hotter when on. Had the sys. evacuated, removed old York compressor & condenser, cut a/c lines...took about an hour. Nice to have an engine compartment that looks cleaner & is easy to work with...plus the car runs about 10-15 deg. cooler now with better airflow thru the decklid vents ! Any idea what I should do with the old parts? I cant see keeping them, probably throw em away, and just keep the compressor bracket.  -Chris |

I gave all the AC stuff away to a guy who wanted AC in his old 911.. the condensor and evaporator may be worth some bucks

What lines did you cut?
Wouldn't it have been cleaner/easier (well, at least cleaner) to simply disconnect all the lines at their termination points? |

Well, I was doing this quick & easy, so I just cut the lines going to the evap. within the engine compartment. No fuiss & you cannot even see whats left of them
I considered pulling all the a/c hoses that run under the left/right side of the car, but its Sunday & I wanted the quick & easy way out so I could enjoy the rest of my day  If I ever add a/c back into the car I will update the hoses. |

I want to do the same, but remove the whole system. My issue is when I tried to get it evacuated the mechanic couldn't get the valve covers off; they were seized.
What do I do now, I think there is still some freon in the system.

Is anybody throwing away a A/C blower motor? (Or whatever is in the smuggler's box?)

I stuck mine is a big storage container in the basement. I keep toying with the idea of selling the condensors and fans on eBay, but never get around to it. Start the bidding at $1 with no reserve. Sold the blower motor to a local board member. I'd keep the main parts - you never know when you can use them for trade fodder.
