| need help lowereing the sc
Helpl! i am trying to lower the rear of my 81 Euro SC. I can't seem to get both sides even. left side is 26 1/4 " right side is 25 1/2" What am I missing? i have tried adjusting the control arm and believe I have it set to the lowest setting on the left side. Car rides great and handles fantastic as it is now, just looking to add more "coolness" to the car. I have 245/45/16 on 16x9 993 wheels on rear. Thanks for any advice. Oh yeah, i am new to this forum, but really enjoy it. oh ha ha

You need to re-index left side so that the adjuster on the spring plate can be used to dial in the exact hieght.

What would cause the torsion bar to need to be re-adjusted? P/o went about 6'3 and easily 300 lbs. i am alitle smaller at 5'7 and 165. Is it possible he had it set for his size? thanks much.

I would say that 300 vs 165 would make a difference and if it was properly corner balanced them the left would be higher than the right. Just for kicks measure the distance from the ground to the bottom of the torsion bar cover and see what the measurements are. Do this on a fairly flat surface.

Jon: Oops . . . sorry my 7s are flatter, or they just appear that way. Must be that high lustre lip job. Thanks for setting it straight.

Yep, it's 7"+8", and it's a bit low for that valance, but I manage somehow. With a standard chin spoiler it hasn't been a problem except rolling the driver's side front fender. SOP for a lowered 911. rjp

Now that’s what I’m talking about! I have been going back and forth between front bumper configurations, tails and wheels and after seeing your car I’m sold…great looking car! Wayne C. 83 SC

thanks. took your advice and did the measurement. It is app. 3/4 inch difference. I think that just became another "winter" project along with rebuilding the trans. ( no second gear syncro left) Probably too many "I 'm powershifting my Camaro" slams , huh? Oh well. we are expecting our first child in December so I will probably need to be in the garage alot. Yes, I have already exposed my boy to the flat six wail and my wife swears he wiggles more when we are in the 911. Wayne

Shaun, Are your wheels factory cups or replica's? 17"? What size tires? The reason I ask is that I have 17" replica's with 245 rear and 215 front and I want to lower my car to your heights. Any problems with rubbing or are you having to run a lot of negative camber? The car looks great! Thanks, Ben

Ben These are factory 993 wheels with spacers. Wheels are 7x9x17. Fronts are 205/45, rears are 255/40. Front fenders are rolled with no problems and looking at the available gap, 215s would probably work fine. My shop set up the alignment, and knowing them, the camber can't be anything extreme. It was set up for 7x8x16s (I just put the wheels on recently) and should be redone.
