3.6 P&C's on a 3.0 case??? Might machining the case open weaken it a bit?

While I wouldn't want MM rebuilding my engine. Parts is parts. I wonder if I would have to do any machine work to use these on my 3.2 rebuild. Is is just a bolt on or is there case/head work that needs to be done?

But MM parts are Ross pistons, not JE's...

Excuse my ignorance (and I am not trying to be a smartass here), but I have no idea what "Ross" pistons are. What makes them inferior to JE's?

Ross pistons apparently have the "quality" MM is known for. MM is the only place I've heard of that uses them in the Porsche world. You hear stories about them being noisy but you used to hear that about JE's too so who knows.

As a former customer of MM I know they cut corners. However, if you have the time and don't mind sending stuff back until you get what you paid for, you can get some good used parts - sort of like picking over the cheap 2x4's at Home Depot. The first crank I got from them was horrible (though described as "perfect, ready to go"). I sent it back and the 2nd one they sent was perfect.

Ross products are very high quality. They are about the same as Probe or Eagle. I'd be more worried about the cylinders.

99.5% possitive feedback???
I had a friend just get his motor back from them after 7.5 months ( I did have fun leaving messages from MM at his work saying we lost your engine, do you have any pictures of your engine parts etc.)! It cost $2800 more than they quoted. He has not put it back in yet...we will see.

They just don't have a good rep with porsches, search, you'll find them. But i was curious, what's the deal with biral cylinders, i thought they were done with after the 2.4's. And doesn't the case need to have it's cylinder bores widened for anything over 98mm pistons?

Cool I would like to beta test them, I ll take 10.5 C/R and a cam for carbs please.

Just the tip of the ice burg. Gotta go twin plug I think on that wide a piston and 46mm carbs or after market FI. I wonder if it would work with OE CIS? Ends up being very expensive unless the CIS would work.

I think the cylinders are resleeved

I mean boring the case bores, not the cylinders, to fit the barrels in place?

Something about that doesn't sound right. Biral cylinders haven't been used for like 30 some odd years. And in order to go past 98mm pistons with nikasil cylinders, the case bores that hold the barrels must be bored out as i'm aware. And the whole reason Biral was outdated was because originally, you could not go past a 2.4L motor with biral cylinders on the mag cases. When Nikasil/Ausil cylinders were introduced, that when the 2.4's where upgraded to 2.7's. Now if the biggest cylinder you can fit on a 3.0/3.2 case is 98mm to make a 3.2 or 3.5 liter engine without widening the case bores, how the hell do they get 101mm Biral cylinders to fit.
