Smile We're Going To Have A BABY......YYYEEEAAA....Baby Seat & Stroller ?'s

We are so excited. Due date is June 13th. WOW …..I’m just sostoked. We were trying…so it’s not a surprise…but a beautiful blessing…..

Okay, so my first thing I need is a stroller and baby seat. Anyone used either of the Porsche baby seat or stroller? Can you use the baby seat in any car? or just Porsches? Is this new $750 stroller worth it??? ….WOW…..

Get plenty of sleep ... it will be years before you get an uninterrupted night of sleep after baby is born. And when the baby is 16, it will start wiping out the family cars.
Best strollers are McLaren folding ones. They are light and fold up into a compact package that will easily fit into the smallest trunk. It is a British brand, with aluminium tubing, swivel wheels, and very manoeuverable. No Lucas electrics.
Baby seats all work pretty much the same way, held in place by the seat belt. Dont waste your money on an expensive Porsche baby seat or stroller.

GONGRATS!!!
Welcome to fatherhood. We are expecting our 3rd (due March 18th) so family trips in the 911 are going to be rare.
As to the baby seat / stroller, try as many as possible. Find the one that works best for you and your wife.
Oh and eventually the morning sickness goes away.

Congratulations! You've just begun a very "interesting" part of your lives. Just for reference, our "baby" got married this past June ... where does the time go?

Congrats.

Probably easiest to not try to carry baby in the 911 until s/he can use a forward-facing infant seat, since rear-facing will only fit in the front passenger seat (haven't tried it but this seems to be the consensus of numerous PP threads) forcing wife to squeeze in the rear, and the largish fully-reclining strollers that infants use won't fit in the boot.

After that, are several child seat options - do a search. The McLaren strollers are great, if they don't fit then try a Combi Savvy Z.

Congratulations! Bringing a child into the world is one of the only experiences that beats driving your first Porsche into your garage. And both will keep you awake at night. I agree with the others regarding not worrying about the expensive Porsche strollers and car seats. Trust me…you will go through many throughout the years (go with safety rating versus brand name). One piece of advice is to Scotch-guard the carpets in your car. Driving your car how it was meant to be driven is guaranteed to induce vomiting. Okay…so ANYTHING will induce vomiting with an infant. Scotch-guard the whole house!!! Again, congratulations.

I, too am expecting a baby (November). My wife won't let me take the baby in the 911, so I can't help with the car seat. However, I will second the Maclaren. I bought the Quest. It is light, fold easily, and looks cool (as far as strollers go).

Edit: Sorry, I forgot to congratulate you!

I have a 5 year old and twin one year olds. Keep this in mind. My 5 year old has had 3 car seats and a booster seat now. He is very tall, but I don't know how I would feel if I had spent $700 or more for anything that will be too small in a few short years.
This baby will be the best thing to every happen to you...

Congrats
Michael

Congratulations! I feel your joy. We are about a month ahead of you (due date May 17th). Are you going to find out the sex or wait for the delivery? My wife and I are still debating that one. I want to wait, but I'm not sure I'm going to win this one.

Congratulations, my first is due April 2, and I can't wait. Plus, now the morning sickness is pretty much over with, so I don't have to hide from my wife anymore. Now if I could just find a Porsche to fit that child seat into......Matt

We just had our first baby two weeks ago. I can vouch for the lack of sleep, it's 11:18pm now and I don't plan to sleep until 1:00 am and will be up a few hours after that, and after that.... oh well it's definitely worth it! Every aspect of the pregnancy and delivery is an incredible experience, just be sure to enjoy it and have a lot of patience!

As for putting our little girl in the 911, we will wait until she is in a forward facing seat.

Best of luck with everything!

-Dan

People said to me "having a baby will completely change your life....." What I have discovered is that having a baby thrusts you into a completely new life which bears no reseblance at all to your life BC (before children). You will take second place with your partner and the P-Car will take a distant third, or worse. Staunchly resist all suggestions of selling your P-Car!!!!
Good luck and get ready for the busiest time of your life.

Benny.

kids

Congratulation..... children are non careing endless expense that will suck the very life from your poor withering body. Save your money for club soccer, braces, highschool and the big one college, not to mention if it’s a girl, you will need hair transplants when she hits puberty. The endless phone calls from pre-pubescent boys with enough grease on there faces that you can lube the 911. Well all kidding aside my kids are a complete joy to have around motocross riding with my son and wake-boarding with my daughter It's a blast every day a new joy I hope yours are as great as mine.
PS Im not kidding about the expenses,..... on the plus side they now boy 13 girl 15 are too big to fit in the back seat of my 82sc.
Ahhhh all mine again!

Congrats on the kid! I have two of my own (2 & 4), and wouldn't settle on anything less than the bet car seat..Britax. They are UK built and have been tested and approved for the Audoban (don't ask how). Anyway...very good seat, about $250...but they are awesome.
Good luck!

Wes

Great news.

Kids and Porsches do mix.

Couple of ideas. Don't know if rules are different over here, but we have to use a rear facing child seat initially. So unless you get real long shoulder belts ofr the rear junior will ride upfront.

Once they get old enough its a front facing one. There are loads of good ones on themarket. Chgeck them out aih the car to see which one fits correctly.

Porsche do not make baby seats, they repackage and rebrand others (Britax, Maxi Cosi etc) to sell on, the same with the push chairs. I'd go for them rather thna spend the extra cash on the Porsche name.

Jacques in now 23mths and is on his second seat. He has a third for the wife's car as the others don't fit.

As for the push chair the Maclarens are great. Real easy to use and fold. But also consider getting a push chair were junior faces you. It makes a huge difference. Often these have a higher seating position than the macs etc which measn they are not always looking a peoples knees, rather their waists. Its alos easier to keep an eye on them if they face you.

Again, good luck, its great and worthwhile.

Want to drive a Porsche and make sure your newborn is SAFE, buy a Cayenne. You can buy any generic baby seats and it will fit in the rear.

We haven't taken our little girl in the Porsche because as CONCERN parents we wants what best for her. Once she is old enought she will be able to enjoy all of DADDY's TOYS.

Oh congradulation, your journey is about to begin.
