Power Window Issue

Hey All,
I have a weird power window prob. The driver's side will occasionally stop working in the fully closed position only, never down or partially down. I found that if I use an allen wrench and manually work the window even a tiny amount it will work perfectly for a few months then, totally without warning, stick in the totally closed position till I wiggle the gear a bit.
Any ideas?
TIA

I had a similiar problem with my power window. It would ocassionally quit working in the down position. I replaced the switch and it has worked flawlessly ever since.

Had a similar problem with my '88. Driver window hung up and wouldnt work at all. Took the door panel off and rapped the motor with a screwdriver and it started working!! Figured the brushes hung up... Sounds like you might have a bad spot on the commutator.

When the motor stops in the bad spot it wont work, a small movement to a 'good' spot gets it going again.

I took the motor off and cleaned up the brush rigging and its been working fine since.

YMMV :} Joe

That sounds like a likely solution. It seems to have a bad spot that it gets no power. I'll try that this weekend.
Thanks!

Buck, you may try spaying the switch with contact cleaner. It is worth a shot before having to take the motor out.
