Can someone tell me where to find the color code location on a 1972 911 S. Also what would be the code for red and for cream. The car's been repainted and there is a chip on the fule filler door that is showing a cream color under the red. Could this be the original color or a base coat? Car has been sold by a shop which takes car of my cars and is unable to find the color code. BTW it is in excellent condition restored a few years ago. Sold at just under $20k.

The color code if it's still there should be on the driver side forward door jam. It might be some other places but I don't know where
"resale red" seems to be a popular color when it comes to repainting by used car dealerships. I'm not sure about cream but it does strike me as a very period color along with sepia brown (my favorite ![]()

Tom,
The paint code is on a small aluminum plate inside the forward driver's side door jam ... Here are the paint offerings from 1972: ![]() ![]()

Warren,
Just wanted to thank you for solving a mystery for me as well. I presume these are the codes for the 1973's as well.

The code is 336. Check out the last sample on page 9 at the following link. And I would also like to thank Warren for the helpful print out.

Another tip.
Click on the link above and note the German spelling of your color. Go to Glasurit's site and enter POR for the manufacturer and the German paint color and click start query. On the next page, click on the technology code and a pop-up window with your paint formulation will appear. I have noticed that most Porsche colors are part of the 22 color technology.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Jim Richards. I've been trying to find a pic of Royal Purple (my car's original color). Where did you find it, in the link?
