Drop engine/oil cooler access

This weekend I intend to drop my engine for the first time (with some help) to get at the usual pesky oil leaks. I also intend on changing the oil cooler seals. Will dropping my engine onto a furniture dolly limit my access to the engine mounted oil cooler? I suspect I will need to get at the bottom of the engine to remove the cooler.

I'm also going to take this opportunity to do a number of "while I'm in there" tasks such as replacement of chain housing cover gaskets and repair of a few vacuum leaks. I'll have the engine out all next week.

Thanks,
Brad

Nope. Not at all. The cooler comes out the side. Furniture dolly will not present any problem whatsoever.

You can't use a stock furniture dolly - no place to get jack in. People who use a dolley make a custom one AFIK. I just wheel motors around on the jack - after getting the balance right. A clean floor is very important. When the jack wheel hits a pebble with a 400+lb engine on it you'll see the wisdom of a clean floor.

Hey BG have you used the ATV jack when you put the engine/tranny back in? I have always just used a floor jack because it allows me to shift and wiggle the engine/tranny around to get the mounts lined up. I do like the thought of more stability like you get with the ATV jack.

Thanks for the advice about the clean floor.
I built a custom furniture dolly by cutting out a short side to make a "U" shape. The jack fits right in the middle. I also raised/reinforced to existing sides so that my 5" tall jack can be lowered below the dolly level.

How's this Chris?

Yes, I have used the ATV jack for the reinstall. Front 2 wheels pivot like a grocery cart so if you're close rolling it in you enough have wiggle room.

BG,
You missed a spot. :
I'm guessing you don't let people eat in your car - or over your motor.
Is that a hex head bolt I see holding your fan strap?
(Just razzin' ya.)

Fan, shroud, strap painted silver, $4 can of Rust Oleum industrial.
All the rest is bead blasted back to bare aluminum.

Painted parts look good after 3k miles, bare aluminum already getting dirty again. Oh well...have to drop it out again...

Yup hex head bolt. Did you notice the muffler from pic 1 to pic 2? I was really bored one night and hand rubbed it with a scotchbrite pad...I need to get a life...
