Andreas Design now has a website...
Back about December, Nine magazine mentioned an aftermarket company (Andreas Designs) that made a 964 style console for SC's. They never mentioned an e-mail address, and routine checks on the 'net came up fruitless.
I tried a search the other day, and it looks like they now have a website. Looks like the products are done with an enthusiasts attention to detail & quality. Not interested in the console anymore, but it looks to be decent quality. The carbon fiber look underdash unit though has me really interested since I was generally unhappy with the flimsy (IMHO) Moch-1 unit. For anybody who was looking for this company.... http://www.andreasdesigns.net/console.htm

Chris, Thanks for the link. It's good to see an alternative to the factory offering. I wish there was a console that was a cross between the factory and the 930s style. The latter being too boxy...if it were just a bit more streamlined and stylized.

I feel exactly the same way...which was why I was so intrigued by the mention of this company in Nine last December.
I guess I've given up the chase, I figure that when I get around to really focusing on the console I'll just have a stereo shop fabricate EXACTLY what I'm looking for...which probably means more $$$ than it should be, but suppliers should charge whatever the market will bear....

Chris, thanks for posting the link.... but, this thing is just stupid. It has absolutely no function except to occupy space. Bling rating of 8.

*sigh* us early owners are ignored once again.
I'm gonna start getting a complex here...

Mark - agreed, I guess that's why Nine Magazine never showed a picture of the console....If you ask me it ain't very 964-like at all!
Like I said before, the underdash unit looks to be a pretty good design...at least more durable than the flimsy Moch-1 units which I think is one of the biggest ripoffs costwise...

While I don't have any of Andreas' products on my 911, I have experience dealing with him as he did the fitting and install of my Sparco seats on my 911 while he was working at another company.
I saw his carbon fibre door panels fitted to his own 911 and they were pretty sharp. As far as the workmanship he did while working on my 911.... Flawless. Also great attention to detail and he didn't hesitate to do some custom work in order to make things work perfectly. cheers!

I hate to say it, but a center console with a cup holder would make me very happy. If I was only weekend-driving my car, I wouldn't care, but I spent all summer driving it 2-3 days a week to and from work (70+ miles round trip). The roads here are far too bumpy to use my crotch to hold a hot cup of coffee.
Fortunately half the time I had a friend carpooling, and I just made her hold the coffee. ![]()

I think it's the bling-bling carbon fiber look that put me off. If it was dressed in simple black vinyl it might look more "factory" and I might be more interested.

Why don't they list prices? I like the under dash unit. Is it a case of, if you have to ask......

my only question is, "why?" Why add more crap to the interior? The under dash thing looks like an early add-on AC unit with carbon glued on. The center console? Why yes, I'd like my clean interior to look like a 90's Japanese car.
I like seeing my brake handle and manual heater levers. I like the dash being open underneath. It is part of the "wa" of the car (to steal a Japanese term...yes, I see the irony, thank you). Different strokes, but I can think of better ways to spend money on a 911... |

I like being able to see my wires, because half the time something isn't working and I need to get under there!

This is about as useful as the carbon fiber door pockets

Do they offer any products to go the other way (i.e. convert a 964 to SC)? Now THAT would be useful !!

I will need to replace my knee boards soon. I am converting my Doric Grey (biege) intearior to black & thought the carbon fiber thing could be an option, but I'll probable save myself 3 bones finding a black vinyl kneeboard.

Hate to see what all that carbon fiber will do in the event of an unfortunate impact

nostatic - The underdash kit wouldn't replace worn out knee pads nor does it hang down below the kneepad like the underdash A/C vents. So I'm not sure where that comparison came from...
I'm not sure why anybody would want the wiring and piping behind the dashboard showing...it's pretty common sense to want to hide the wiring from view...I made my own underdash cover.... but to each his own I guess... At times, I fail understand the desire of some to trash anything that's aftermarket or non OEM...One of our own Pelicanites has vouched for the guys quality of work...and while the products may not interest you, I'm sure they're probably of interest to someone else. If anything I feel like dotorg...there's so few products developed for SC owners to look at why discourage suppliers from making stuff for us?

nostatic - Just find the overexuberence amongst the "purists" to call anything non-factory "rice" to be very high on this board.
But, I agree with you the console looks quite disappointing...
