Name it win it #3

Will try to make this one a little more difficult since you guys are getting so effin good. First 'winner' that names the part AND YEAR gets a free genuine Porsche used hood emblem of your choice, the picture ain't great because the one on the right is silver and the one on the left ain't orange. Ready, set, go. Have fun.

'67-'68 Targa top seal retainer/trim with holes for the latch. Do I need the part #?

Best,
Grady

Left side windshield header trim for a Targa. I'm gonna guess a '71.

Gerome,

Send me either one (or both) and I will add something appropriate to the prize. I will then post “Name it win it #4” and pass on the trophy to the next winner. I’ll get Chris to make a wood plaque.

Now comes the challenge to find something really difficult but everyone can normally see it. Perhaps a more complicated set of things. hehe

Best,
Grady

Sound real cool, I'll send both of them to you, reminds me somewhat of the movie 'Pay It Forward' cool concept. If I ever get the time to visit my aunt in Pueblo I will come by and pay you a visit, I fly through Denver a couple times a year for west coast work related stuff. Have a good one, Jerome.

OK, I know what “Name It Win It #4” will be. I’m not telling what the specific items are but it will work this way:

There will be 10+/- images numbered 1-10+/-. Entrants must identify each and post in the form “1 – left door handle from a ’72 911”, etc.

I will rank privately each entry on the following points scale: No clue – 1 point, Some idea but no cigar – 2 points, Warmer – 3 points, Very close but not complete - 4 points, and Right On – 5 points. I will total up all the points for each entry and post the totals (not the score for individual images.) At the end I’ll post all the scores in a spreadsheet.

I’ll try and make it where there isn’t a perfect score but everyone can get really close. Everyone will be able to see all the guesses and the totals but not be able to tell which ones are correct or other. I will try and post about a day after any entry. You can enter as many times as you wish, refining your entry each time. Please don’t delete or edit any entry.

Of course the winner gets the traveling trophy to add to and pass along. The winner also gets to put on “Name It Win It #5” however he/she wants.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Tyson, you better get the next one or will it be … ?

Gerome, plan your visit to Pueblo when there is a PCA event at the track.

Best,
Grady

Note that it took Grady 11 minutes to post the right answer...

Dang! I posted 1 minute after Grady, and missed the year by 2. So close!

Hey, can I post a part to guess? I know a good one.

The way I proposed will not be based on who can post first but it will be the highest points count. I’ll have to figure a fair way to break ties using the time of post or something.

Biosurfer1, good point. I’ll post lower res images. I wonder what I can do with 4 pixels.

Randy, it is my typing with one hand bandaged. At least I still have 10 fingers. Notice Ty was less than one minute later. The only reason I knew was I scoured the country for broken Targa tops and related hardware when a local kid decided to just specialize in Targa tops 30 years ago. He is no longer a kid and does great work; the best I have ever seen. Here is Dave Brown.

I put on the Parade Tech Quiz in ’76 and won overall several times. I have been asked to help for the ’06 Parade. Watch out – you will find me most devious.

Best,
Grady

Wayne,

That is why I usually compose off line and sleep on important issues. It was way past bedtime to let me near a computer.

What number follows #3?

Best,
Grady

Grady, the badges should be to you Wed/Thurs via ups ground. Was working on stripping the 66 this afternoon before our usual afternoon downpour and I found a good 'name it item'. Thanks bud you are one of the reasons this board is what it is.

The silver item is the manual hand crank for the early sunroof. Supplied with sunroof coupes in the tool kit.

grey one is emergency crank handle for the power sunroof (if the motors fails, & it starts to rain...)
black one is the rear trailing arm from a Gmund coupe...(just kidding, I don't know the black one)
