Wayne's 101 projects?
OK you guys we all have the book, but how many of the project have you done on your car?
Not every project is suitable for every year car so a car date and model should be listed with your projects total. It is a '79 sc and I'm at 58 and not sure I could afford Wayne's next book on 101 more projects

Maybe these are more "crafty" things, but I have recovered interior panels, installed new carpet (pre-fabbed kit, but some make their own), installed body seals, dyed vinyl and leather, and fabricated a battery tray for an Optima battery.

Replaced and reupholstered most of the interior of my car. Did an engine drop, rebuilt the brakes, added a strut brace, replaced the windsheild seals, installed a stereo, replaced the steering wheel, upgraded the torsion bars, rewired a bunch of the electricals, polished my Fuchs, and had a great time doing all of it. Thanks Wayne, couldn't have done it without ya!.

So far....Lowered, rebuilt brakes, strut brace, targa brace, stereo, replaced steering wheel, put old steering wheel back on, oil changes, fuel filter and accumalator. Replaced shift coupler. Complete tune up, wires, plugs etc....
It goes for a full paint and interior replacement this winter. I will be very involved in all of that, Sorry Damon. Thanks to Wayne for the book and Damon for the hands on.

MSD ignition, tach adapter, new valve covers and valve adjustment, ignition wires, set timing, weber rebuild and new lights in my guages. I will be doing my brakes in the near future: new lines, front rotors, new pads and bleed the system. I like the wasy the book is laid out. It has also helped me to better understand my car and start doing more jobs myself.

Wayne's 2 books are extraordinary for the complete info given, in the manner the subject is addressed, and in the manner the reader is informed. The "subject" being addressed by the reader is a guarantee of success IMO............Ron

I 've probably done 20 and the PO did 40 or so. I was looking at it last night and the one project I think could be better is the alternator install. It describes nothing about VR updates or conversions. But I realize the limitations of a book and don't hold it against Wayne at all. The Engine book could be better!

Ha -- I did a lot of them before the book came out. Then I did my engine before that book came out. I am now looking for my next project to do before Wayne does whatever is his next book....
One thing about 101 tho, is that the projects seem very diverse in terms of the skill levle for them. Some are really simple (and for a medium level person) aren't worth the bother to read about them. Others are fairly advanced. OTOH, you need a certain critical mass of projects to put out a book, and defray the printing expenses. |
