Gas pedal is too low... options?
I tried adjusting it tonight, having read that it was adjustable on here the other day. The widget that goes between the pedal and the actual mechanism in the pedal cluster is set as long as it goes, so there's no more adjustment there.
If I want the pedal higher, to get it closer to the height of the brake pedal, are there any other options I've got? Does anyone make replicas of that part that are longer? I really like the looks of the adjustable pedals where you can put a side "thumb" of the gas pedal more below the brake pedal, but those are a lot of cash. What other options are there?

Check the link under the car next to the transmission. It may have separated and is working only on it's safety catch. Looks like a little barrel about 6 inches from where the linkage exits the bulkhead.

If you adjust the gas pedal up be aware that it will cause the linkage to hit the stop at the throttle body end if you don't adjust the linkage at the transmission. The consequences of not doing this is bent or bending throttle linkage.

Some of us don't have throttle bodies. I'm not entirely clear how this stuff all works with carbs, etc. I'm not going to mess with it right now, until I know for sure

![]() If you make the throttle linkage longer on one end (by raising the pedal), you need to make it shorter on the other end. The linkage has some springiness in it so you may be OK but if it stays bent the throttle won't close when you let off the gas. -Chris

Have you checked the gas pedal itself? you have two (2) holes/points where the tip of the rod snaps in place. Try snapping it into the bottom hole!
Good luck! p.s., The brake and clutch pedal heights are also adjustable. |

A 1.5 inch thick block of soft wood cut to the same outline as the pedal, painted black, and screwed to the bottom of the old pedal.
It works

cab83_750: thanks, I had no idea, I'll check that.
Didn't know the brake pedal height is adjustable too... got a link for explanation of whats involved? My goal is just to get everything more in-line, so I have a chance of getting heel-toe working without breaking my ankle when I shift.

Is the pedal height a problem at the track? They usually line up when you are braking hard - harder than you would on the street.

You underestimate how hard I brake on the street.
![]() In actuality, I'd guess its probably okay if I'm driving that agressively, but I want something sort of in the middle. When I'm just idling around town, its not so important, but I want to be able to do it without risking someone rear-ending me. Sort of splitting the difference.

Brake pedal matches clutch pedal.

One more thing. Start by checking if you are getting wide open throttle with pedal down. If not, something stretched. In my case, it was the anti vibration link. The old style just separated leaving you with no throttle. The replacement model has a housing that captures the thing if it breaks and gives you at least partial throttle.

You can check out what I did. It's cheap! about $4 total, looks stock and can be undone at the track in about 2 minutes.
